Sacramento County residents in low-income communities can get up to $12,000 for an electric or hybrid vehicle under the updated Clean Cars 4 All program.
Residents in lower income communities will still be prioritized for the grants and they can now receive up to $12,000 for a hydrogen or battery-powered electric vehicle.
Funding for e-bike purchases will now be available through the program as well.
Metropolitan Air Quality Management District representatives say they expect another $12 million grant will continue funding for Clean Cars 4 All through 2028.
As of 2024, the management district provided 1,090 grants which purchased 901 vehicles from dealerships participating in the Clean Cars 4 All program.
“These 901 vehicles will help to reduce 9,573 tons of green house gas emissions and 8.42 tons of criteria pollutants over their 30-month project life,” Clean Cars 4 All program supervisors Cindy Mahon said during a Thursday meeting.
