Monday’s weather around Colorado’s high country was mild and partly cloudy, with highs in the mid-30s — Copper Mountain recorded 34 for a high — as February’s transition to spring continues.
Forecast:
Tuesday day will be mostly dry and partly sunny, but snow will develop over the northwestern corner of the state ahead of the storm. High temperatures are still forecast to reach the low 40s at some base areas and south-facing slopes could be extra-soft in afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Elkhead and Park mountains from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 11 p.m. Wednesday.
A Weather.us forecast model shows the potential accumulation levels of water-equivalent precipitation as of 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22 for Colorado. Depending on the density of the snow, one inch of water is equivalent to 10 inches of snow based on a common rule of thumb ratio of 10:1.
