CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – A large percentage of the population is allergic to tree pollen and one Lowcountry allergist has some tips on how to get through the season.
Tree pollen season goes from about February to May. Climate change has had an impact on this year’s pollen season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Because the weather warmed up a little earlier, the pollen season is longer.
Charleston Allergy states that the pollen count is currently sitting at a high nine out of 12. Because of this, allergy doctors are facing their busiest time of year. Doctor John Ramey with National Allergy and ENT says that around 30 to 40 percent of people in the area are allergic to tree pollen.
