A new type of technology has been designed by experts to address child safety in households everywhere. It particularly focuses on the problem of children swallowing batteries, especially coin or button batteries. 

Energizer, manufacturers of primary batteries and portable lighting products is releasing a new battery that will alert parents if their child has swallowed it. The battery is equipped with a nontoxic bitter coating to discourage swallowing in addition to a “color alert technology.”

This color alert technology activates a blue dye when the battery makes contact with moisture, indicating a potential ingestion.
