Environmentalists block Kukulcán Boulevard in Cancun’s Hotel Zone

More than 10 environmentalist groups carried out a blockade at kilometer 5 of the Cancun Hotel Zone, to demand that Semarnat stop the ‘ecocides that are taking place in Quintana Roo’, in addition to symbolically closing its offices.

On Monday, April 29th, representatives of the NGOs appeared at the facilities of the federal agency, located next to the Garden of Art, near the well-known ‘Canal Sigfrido’, where they first placed a ‘citizen closure’ seal, while shouting slogans.

Theactivists carried banners with slogans against Semarnat, as well as a large cloth with the word ‘Ecocide’.

The environmental groups Blue Religión, Ecocaribe, Semillas Fuertes, Cenotes Urbanos, Selvame del Tren, Conciencia Ciudadana Gema del Mayab, Cemda, Selva Maya SOS association, Oceans, Futures Society, were the ones that carried out the protest and threatened to close the Boulevard.
