KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Strong storms and heavy winds are making their way across the Kansas City Metro this week. The power of these winds can knock down power lines and Evergy has crews ready to spring into action for potential outages.

“Evergy’s operations crews are monitoring the forecasts through our service area very closely and they’re meeting and if we need to we will reassess how we respond to the storm based on what it leaves in its wake,” said Evergy spokesperson Courtney Lewis.

The agency advises you to create an emergency kit for your home, workplace, and vehicle. In that kit, you should include non-perishable food, prescription medication, flashlight and a first-aid kit. If a limb falls down in your backyard, Evergy advises not to go near fallen power lines because they could still be energized.
