F-M electric vehicle readiness study underway [Video]

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Electric vehicles are gaining traction in North Dakota and Minnesota as battery prices fall and the benefits of EVs increase. In recent years, virtually every major automobile manufacturer has announced plans to transition to electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles.

The Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Governments (FM Metro COG) is working to make sure the community is “EV-ready.”

The plan includes identifying current and potential barriers, and coming up with strategies and community support for electric vehicle needs. When the group’s plan is complete, it can be used as a framework for cities to address infrastructure and service needs, zoning, parking, permitting and funding, among other things.
