Fire departments to hold benefit for Lexington fire captain [Video]

Four local fire departments are coming together to honor the life and legacy of 19-year Lexington fire Capt. Ronnie Metcalf. Metcalf died one month ago due to injuries he sustained while responding to a fire on Fifth Street.Metcalf served as a firefighter for more than three decades and worked at Lexington Fire Department for 19 years.The four fire departments — South Davidson, Denton, Badin Lake and Healing Springs — are hosting a benefit at the Southern Theater and Event Center on Saturday to raise money for Metcalf’s family.Get the latest news stories of interest by clicking hereOrganizers say plates of barbeque, barbeque chicken, potato salad, slaw, and Moon Pies will be served starting at 11:30 a.m. Both dine-in and carry-out plates will be served.
