HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A week removed from a high wind and tornado outbreak not witnessed in more than a decade, the region is preparing for a second outburst of strong windstorms. At risk: thunderstorms armed with large hail, damaging winds and even a few twisters. The scenario to produce the heavy weather would start innocently enough with run-of-the-mill morning showers and rumbles. But by mid-day, the skies will open up for sunshine and temperatures will shoot for 75-80 degrees. Meanwhile the wind will be blowing all day long at ground level (20 mph) and in the clouds above (50-80mph). Once the sun comes out, it will do its best to send the air rising and clouds and thunderheads to ignite. In time these storms would grow into 10-mile-high thunderheads capable of high winds (straight line or circular), large hail (1″ diameter) and a few tornado warnings from the National Weather …
