Gas prices in Alabama remain higher than last month; national price has first drop this year [Video]

It may be a good sign for those planning to travel on the roads this summer season.According to a Trilby Lundberg survey, the national average price for regular unleaded went down 2 cents to $3.75 a gallon.That’s the first decrease in the national gas price average of 2024.In Alabama, AAA shows the average price for gas on May 5 is $3.28 a gallon.That’s an increase of 7 cents from last month.AAA shows Cherokee County and Etowah County have the lowest average prices of $3.16 and $3.18 respectively in the Birmingham TV market.Analysts believe lower crude oil prices and weaker U.S. gasoline demand due to higher inflation may maintain lower prices at the pumps in the short term. >> WVTM 13 ON-THE-GO: Download our app for free
