Household hazardous waste collection event to be held this weekend [Video]

Two drive-thru household hazardous waste collection events will be held this weekend for Lincoln and Lancaster County residents.

On Friday, from 2-6 p.m., residents can bring their household hazardous waste to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 375 S. Lincoln St. in Malcolm. On Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., waste can be dropped off in Lincoln at Star City Shores, 4375 S. 33rd Court.

The collection events are free.

Acceptable items include pesticides, lawn and garden chemicals, household cleaning products, paint thinners, stains, polishes and waxes, turpentine, oil-based paint, pool cleaning chemicals, flea and tick powders, rodent poison, charcoal starter fluids, mixed or old gasolines, brake or power steering fluids, vape products and items containing mercury.

Items not accepted include latex paint, motor oil, fertilizers, gas grill cylinders, medicines and pharmaceutical waste, electronics, firearms, ammunition and batteries.
