PHOENIX (AZFamily) — You’ve made it to the weekend! While you may be heading out of town or planning a road trip with the family to escape the summer heat, unfortunately, it’s also the time of year Arizonans tend to see gas prices go up.

As of Friday morning, the current average price for a gallon of gas in Arizona is $4.12, according to AAA. That’s a few cents lower than last week but $.41 higher than a month ago.

WHY ARE GAS PRICES SO HIGH IN ARIZONA?

To dive deeper into why this is happening now, Arizona’s Family turned to Patrick De Haan, the head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. He blames refinery challenges in California. Experts are now also closely watching what’s going on between Iran and Israel.
