FLORIDA drivers were forced to stop and wait nearly 10 hours after authorities closed a major bridge to restore aging concrete.

Over 2,000 drivers have already petitioned to have the project postponed until their children are out of school for the summer.

In South Florida, the state’s Department of Transportation (FDOT) closed both sides of the Rickenbacker Causeway flyover bridge connecting westbound traffic to South Dixie Highway and I-95 North.

On Sunday, when the bridges first closed, hundreds of cars were left waiting for several hours while workers began the first round of construction to restore weathered concrete.
