India has the ‘largest Shell population’ in the world, says CEO Wael Sawan [Video]

Shell CEO Wael Sawan on Wednesday, February 21, called India the “beating heart” of the company and said the country is home to the largest “Shell population in the world,” making it pivotal to Shell’s global strategy.

“With over 13,000 people—engineers, technologists, AI specialists—all serving the Shell group… that’s why I call it the beating heart here, just because of that incredible talent base,” Sawan said. “We can continue to develop new ideas here and export them to the world.”

Sawan was also full of praise for India’s green energy ambitions and said it is in line with Shell’s vision for energy transition and decarbonisation. He expressed enthusiasm about India’s forward-leaning stance on the energy transition.
