Investigators: Teachers aide slams 5-year-old into seat [Video]

JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A former teacher’s aide faces a battery charge after investigators say she forcefully “slammed” a 5-year-old child into a lunchroom seat.

Nicole Lupardus, 42, of Sandyville, West Virginia, is charged with battery, a misdemeanor.

According to the criminal complaint, dated Tuesday, April 23, the incident happened earlier this month at Ripley Elementary Learning Center.

Deputies say a video of the incident shows the suspect “drag a student across the floor and physically pick the student up and forcefully place the student in the seat of a table in the lunchroom.”

Witnesses, including faculty members, said they saw the suspect “slam” the student into the seat and that it “could have caused injury to the child.”

Those same witnesses “concluded that what they witnessed was excessive and not within their training,” according to the complaint.
