FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – The international spotlight shined on Flint’s water troubles in 2015, when residents picked a new leader to guide them.

Flint Mayor Karen Weaver reflects on navigating the Flint water crisis and the high stakes she had to shoulder a decade after it started.

Flint residents were fearful of the water coming from their taps and angry at government leaders for misleading them. Voters elected change at the top at Flint City Hall, when Weaver defeated Dayne Walling in 2015.

It was a historic moment, as she was the city’s first female mayor. She was charged with leading Flint out of a historic and unimaginable water crisis.
