Water Crisis In Bengaluru: The Karnataka Water Supply and Sewerage Board (KWSSB) banned the use of drinking water for non-essential activities. These activities include car washing, gardening, construction, operation of water fountains, and road construction and maintenance. The board also imposed a fine of Rs 5000, if the order is violated.
The move comes as the city grapples with a severe water shortage. Given the rising water crisis in Bengaluru, the Karnataka government on Tuesday announced setting up control rooms and helpline numbers at the Taluk level. According to Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, more than 3000 borewells in Bengaluru, including the one at his house, have dried up.
