Kurten fireworks show to go on under new leadership [Video]

There will be fireworks in Kurten this Fourth of July after a community member stepped up to take over the annual fireworks show that had been run by the Brazos County District 2 Volunteer Fire Department for the last 20 years.

Savage Outdoor & Defense, a public outdoor shooting range and firearms instruction company outside of Bryan, will be the event’s new host. The event will be free to attend and all proceeds that exceed operating costs will be donated to three local charities: The National Wild Turkey Federation, the Brazos County District 2 VFD and the Brazos County First Responders Association.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. The family friendly event will include food trucks, yard games, vendors, adult and kid activities, a raffle at 8:30 p.m., and concludes with a fireworks show at 9. Parking is free, but limited.
