Latest: High winds continue Friday, watch for fallen trees, power outages [Video]

Reports of fallen trees, closed roads, downed lines and power outages piled up Thursday, as wind gusts reached up to 50 mph.

A second round of storms roared through the Triangle around 10 p.m.

As of Friday morning, the storms have passed. However, it’ll be another blustery day with wind gusts reaching 40mph and spotty showers likely. With the wet ground and high winds, there’s potential for more fallen trees and power outages. Duke Energy released a warning about “extremely gusty conditions” that could trigger an increased likelihood of power outages across the state. Duke Energy encourages customers to prepare in case outage times are extended.

Storm damage left thousands without power on Thursday, and major roadways were closed. Here’s an updated look at power outages and conditions on Friday.
