SALT LAKE CITY —  Utah is getting a look at the proposed budget from the state’s Executive Appropriations Committee. Lawmakers will have to approve the final budget before the session ends on March 1.

The committee made its final recommendations for the budget. It involves over $28 billion.

What’s in the budget?

These final recommendations include investments across several sectors like education, social services, energy, and water.

One of the biggest recommendations is tax relief which would reduce the Utah income tax rate from 4.65% to 4.55 %.

Other proposed budget highlights include expanding the child tax credit, funding child sexual abuse prevention amendments, funding grants for AI education programs, and creating a point-of-the-mountain transit stop.

This recommendation advances for consideration, and the final budget needs to be approved before the session ends on March 1.
