Shell CEO Wael Sawan credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with having a vision of where he wishes to propel India with the energy transition. This could be a big stimulus for the rest of the world, Sawan added.
In an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18, the London-headquartered oil and gas company’s CEO, Sawan, underappreciated India’s plans and momentum in the energy transition. He believes that India and China are playing a massive role in the energy transition.
Sawan highlighted that the Indian energy transition is in alignment with Shell’s energy transition strategy.
“We fundamentally believe in the role of a company like ours in providing energy security at affordable prices, as well as supporting the decarbonisation of the energy system. And that’s exactly what the Indian government is aiming to do,” said Sawan.
