Mexican man gets 6 months in Bedford case involving minor [Video]

A Mexican citizen arrested in Bedford County last month was sentenced Friday to six months in jail in connection with a case involving the abduction of a 15-year-old girl.

Isauro Garcia Cruz, 43, faces charges on warrants from Butler County, Ohio, charging him with kidnapping and abduction, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office said in a March 6 news release. Cruz also had pending warrants for aggravated sexual battery of a minor relating to a different incident, the release said. The release said Cruz is an undocumented Mexican citizen.

The girl was found in the 1200 block of Burnbridge Road in Forest on March 1, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office has said.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigative effort that began by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Lynchburg Police Department in assisting the Butler County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio, according to …
