MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Strong storms ripped through the Mid-South over the last 24 hours, causing thousands of Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) customers to lose power.
Weather will be something to keep an eye on over the next couple of days.
Folks we spoke with say it’s hot and muggy outside and even worse inside their homes. They say regardless of storms they need reliable power.
Since Sunday, strong winds, torrential rain, flooding and even a tornado warning pummeled the Mid-South. For thousands of residents in Memphis, Monday has been a day without power.
“We haven’t had power since one o’clock this morning,” said Kiya Winters.
Winters lives near the Bartlett-Memphis border and lost power early Monday morning. She said what makes this whole experience worse is having small kids at home.
