SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — The National Weather Service confirmed that eight tornadoes were tracked from Slidell to Kiln, Mississippi, on April 10.

The Slidell Police Department reported extensive damage on the south end of the city, with businesses and apartment complexes partially collapsed.

St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper signed an executive parish-wide state of emergency order.

On Monday, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry visited the areas of the state impacted by the tornadoes and signed an emergency declaration on Tuesday.

In a Thursday social media post, the NWS stated on its website that two tornadoes hit the Slidell area with one being an EF-2 and the other being an EF-1.

According to the NWS, the estimated peak wind for the EF-2 tornado was 120 miles per hour, and 90 miles per hour for the EF-1 tornado.

Pointe Coupee, West Feliciana and St. Landry parishes also experienced tornado and storm damage.
