PEORIA (25News Now) – Ameren Illinois is upgrading a major natural gas transmission pipeline in Peoria.
The company says work recently began along a seven-mile stretch of existing pipeline from North University Street and Willow Knolls Drive to East Boy Scout Road in Mossville.
- Upgrades along the route include:
- North University Street: natural gas regulator station improvements
- North University Street and Pioneer Parkway: fitting replacements
- North University Street: new gas regulator station installation at the Ameren operating center
- Mount Hawley Airport: re-route and valve installation
- Route 40 and Ravinwoods: valve replacements
Ameren says they are working the Illinois Department of Transportation and the City of Peoria on traffic control.
Once these upgrades are completed, Ameren will inspect the seven-mile stretch of pipeline before conducting what they call a hydrostatic pressure test in August.
Ameren says this portion of the project should be completed by mid-May.
