NV Energy preparing for storm, high winds [Video]

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – NV Energy sent an email to customers on Thursday afternoon, informing them about plans to address an incoming storm.

“High winds are forecast for southern Nevada this weekend,” it stated. It added that customers can expect the following:

  • Strong winds caused by a powerful Pacific storm, increasing Friday and peaking Saturday into early Sunday morning.
  • Wind gusts of up to 65 miles per hour are expected from Saturday into Sunday morning for the Las Vegas Metro and surrounding areas, including Mt. Charleston.
  • Light snow on Mt. Charleston, up to a few inches possible, with blowing snow/strong winds.

NV Energy said that it will have multiple crews “available and ready to respond quickly and safely to any power outages throughout the weekend.” It added that power outages due to high winds are possible.

Our highest priority during the storm is to ensure public and employee safety.”
