TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Ohio Democrats are calling on the Department of Justice to investigate Governor Mike DeWine’s administration.
Their calls come a week after indictments were handed down in the largest bribery scandal in Ohio’s history.
The scandal involved First Energy paying out bribes to state officials to help bail out failing nuclear power plants, including Davis Besse. Last week, the state indicted Sam Randazzo, the former head of the group that regulates utilities, along with two fired First Energy executives.
Prosecutors say First Energy essentially used Randazzo as a trojan horse to get in state government and help the company from the inside. Governor Mike DeWine appointed Randazzo but he has repeatedly claimed he didn’t know First Energy was allegedly paying Randazzo off.
Ohio Democrats want the U.S. Attorney’s Office to investigate whether that was true. They’re also calling on Republicans to join them in repealing remaining parts …
