Older generations reject nuclear energy based on Chernobyl ‘scare stories’

Nuclear for Australia founder Will Shackel says young people can be some of the “strongest proponents” for nuclear power.

Australia is the only G20 nation which prohibits the development of nuclear energy.

“There is not enough nuclear literacy in this country,” Mr Shackel told Sky News host Steve Price.

“I think there is a difference where older generations, they have been exposed to the scare stories about Chernobyl where the science has been put out of context.

“I would just, in a broad summary, say that young people aren’t taught about nuclear power period.”
