Recall Friday: Portable speaker for children, area rugs are fire hazards [Video]

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Two recalls Friday include a portable speaker aimed at kids and an area rug you might have bought on Amazon.

The Yoto Mini Speaker can catch fire when its lithium-ion battery overheats, the Consumer Product Safety Commission says,

Yoto Mini Speakers were sold on Amazon, Target online, and some other websites from November 2021 until this month.

There have been seven reports of the speaker overheating or melting. No injuries were reported.

If you have this at home, you can go to the Yoto Play website for instructions on how to receive a new charging cable. That cable will only charge the battery to a safe level.

Yoto says there’s also an automatic software update to improve battery management.

The CPSC also reports the recall of the Touchat large fuzzy area rug sold on Amazon. They’re rectangular and gray.
