Recycling thieves target Wauseon non-profit for adults with developmental disabilities [Video]

WAUSEON, Ohio (WTVG) – At Triangular Processing, you’re supposed to drop off materials for recycling. Recently, the center reports several people decided to take bags of aluminum cans from bins outside the non-profit before those materials ever made it to the sorting floor.

“Just a few bad apples that are making it difficult and putting a strain on the system,” said Kathy Shaw, Director of Triangular Processing. “We were actually put together in 1997 by a group of parents who wanted a local, convenient opportunity for their adult children with developmental disabilities.”

When security cameras caught the thieves in action, Triangular Processing turned the footage over to Wauseon Police.

“I mean, it’s disappointing,” said Serena Medina, Recycling Team Leader. “When you steal from Triangular Processing, you actually steal from their wages of how they get paid as well.”
