Gov. Phil Scott held his weekly news conference Wednesday afternoon with a focus of affordability. He expressed his disappointment with many of the legislature’s policies that he believes is making life more expensive.One of those is the legislature’s proposed update to the Renewable Energy Standard, which passed on a 99-39 roll call late Wednesday evening.The legislature’s updated standard requires retail electric utilities to be on all renewable resources by 2030 and the rest by 2035; Scott says their plan is unaffordable.”Vermonters can’t afford to put theory and good intentions over practical solutions. We’re seeing that first hand with the Clean Heat Standard, and they should learn from it and take the time to get the renewable energy bill right,” he said.Also, he believes they took more stock into listening to stakeholders, lobbyists, and utilities, while his administration spent 18 months learning how to best make this transition to greener alternatives …
