FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – A number of other events are planned Thursday to remember the Flint water crisis, update residents about the settlement and discuss progress on water pipe replacement.
Thursday marks the 10th anniversary of when Flint disconnected from Detroit’s municipal water system and began drawing drinking water from the Flint River.
The more corrosive river water was not treated properly, which allowed it to eat away the protective lining inside water pipes. That allowed particles from lead-based water services lines to flake off and enter the water supply in homes across the city.
Organizers are planning a public march with speakers beginning at 11 a.m. at the People’s Church of Flint on Garland Street. The event will send with a march to Flint City Hall, where a rally will take …
