NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A group of pro-Palestinian protesters who marched from Freret Street onto the campus of Tulane University forced the cancelation of some classes and the evacuation of some buildings, the university said Monday evening (April 29).
Six campus intruders were arrested by Tulane University Police, the university said. The arrestees — “who are refusing to identify themselves,” according to the university — are accused of offenses including battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and trespassing.
The university sent a notification to students, faculty and staff around 6:15 p.m. that said, “Due to police activity related to the protest in front of Gibson Hall, classes in Gibson, Dinwiddie and Tilton are canceled. Please leave Gibson, Dinwiddie and Tilton Memorial at this time. Do not exit toward Gibson Circle.”
