NPS shifts to asynchronous learning for student safety as the eclipse starts and peaks on Monday, April 8, around the time of students’ departure from school.
NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Public Schools (NPS) announced that they will be holding an asynchronous learning day on April 8, the day of the solar eclipse. Students will not go to school that day and instead will work on independent classwork at home.
On Facebook, NPS says that due to the eclipse starting at around 2 p.m. and reaching its peak around 3:20 p.m., which would be around the time when students are preparing to leave school or already heading home, they’ve decided to make it an asynchronous learning day to ensure student safety.
NPS also says students will be sent home on Thursday, March 28 with an independent learning activity focused on the eclipse to prepare them for the celestial event.
