Suspect arrested in Laken Riley’s death on UGA campus [Video]

A suspect in the death of August University student Laken Riley, who was found dead on the campus of the University of Georgia, has been taken into custody, according to the UGA Police Department.  

Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26, who lives in Athens. He will be booked into the Clarke County Jail on charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another. Online jail records indicate he had not been booked into the facility as of 7:15 p.m.

During a press conference on Friday evening, investigators revealed Ibarra did not know Riley and this was a crime of opportunity. They say the campus camera system and witnesses were able to lead them to the suspect. They are still collecting evidence at his home.

University officials went on to say there are no indications of a continuing threat …
