Taxpayers have two weeks left to file and IRS urges Americans to watch out for ‘elaborate’ identity theft scam [Video]

TIME is running out to file your 2023 taxes.

The deadline to file is on April 15, however, taxpayers in Maine and Massachusetts have until April 17 due to state holidays.

Additionally, residents in some states or localities will also have extended deadlines due to natural disasters like mudslides or severe storms.

To check the list of eligible localities head to the disaster relief page on IRS.gov.

Those who have already filed can expect to see their refunds within 21 days, according to the IRS.

Plus, taxpayers may want to take advantage of the IRS Free File, the agency’s portal for filing.

Just note that the portal is only available to taxpayers who made $79,000 or less in 2023.

The IRS expects to process over 128.7 million individual tax returns.

In addition to reminding taxpayers about the upcoming deadline, the IRS is alerting folks to steer clear of scams.
