BARTONVILLE (25News Now) – Illinois State Police confirm a third person has been arrested in connection with Tuesday’s double shooting in Bartonville.

Jail records show James Grant was arrested on Wednesday on one count of obstruction of justice/destroying evidence. He was given a notice to appear.

State Police would not release further information, saying it is to protect the integrity of the investigation.

The confirmation comes a day after 20-year-old Evan Nettles and 17-year-old Donald Grant were ordered to remain in jail during their detention hearing.

Charging documents filed in Peoria County Court show Nettles was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of armed robbery.

Documents also show Donald Grant facing the same charges as Nettles, along with attempted first-degree murder.

The documents allege Nettles and Grant knowingly discharged a firearm in the direction of the two victims, causing injury.

The documents also allege that the duo took cannabis from one of the victims while armed with a firearm.
