Union Parish deputy arrested following use-of-force investigation [Video]

UNION PARISH, La. (KNOE) – The Louisiana State Police arrested a Union Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy on March 6 after an investigation into a use-of-force complaint.

UPSO contacted LSP in October of 2023 regarding a use-of-force complaint involving Deputy Brady Byrnes, 22. LSP said the complaint accused Byrnes of using excessive force on a non-combative subject who was handcuffed behind his back.

Investigation into the incident led to LSP getting an arrest warrant for Byrnes for malfeasance in office and simple battery.

Byrnes was booked into the Union Parish Detention Center on March 6.

LSP said the investigation is ongoing.
