CALUMET COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Wind energy is on the minds of hundreds of people in rural Calumet County as an out-of-state company is pushing for a wind energy project in their backyards.
Several hundred people packed a banquet hall at a hotel in Brillion for an informational session about the project. The crowd was overwhelming against the project.
“I don’t think the return on the windmill will justify what it would do the community,” said Gary Matter from the town of Chilton.
Many people said they have health concerns when it comes to the wind-energy project saying the humming and vibrations of the wind turbines would make it difficult to sleep. At the meeting, others spoke anecdotally about instances when they felt sick after being near a wind turbine.
