RIVESVILLE, W.Va. (WBOY) — A second West Virginia Mon Power solar site is under construction in Rivesville, parent company FirstEnergy announced in a press release on Tuesday.

The solar station will be able to produce up to 5.5 megawatts of renewable energy, according to the company. FirstEnergy said one megawatt can power an average of 173 homes citing the Solar Energy Industries Association, meaning 5.5 megawatts would be able to power about 951 homes.

The solar site will be on 27 acres off Morgan Ridge Road at an old brownfield site that hasn’t been used since the Rivesville Power Station was deactivated in 2012.
