TUESDAY’S SEVERE WEATHER

It was a very active day Tuesday with stronger storms that brought severe weather and flooding across the state. We had two confirmed tornadoes touch down in southern MA.

Mattapoisett: An EF-1 tornado touched down at 11:20 AM with peak wind speeds of 95 mph. The path was 0.9 miles long and 300 yards wide. Trees were uprooted falling in several different directions.

Marstons Mills: An EF-0 tornado touched down at 11:52 with peak wind speeds of 80 mph. The path was 1.1 miles long and 650 yards wide. A tree was uprooted and there was a downed electrical pole. Debris was scattered nearby.

Flooding: We also had significant rainfall move through Tuesday, rainfall reports were greater than 7″ in some areas with the worst of it in the Merrimack Valley. North Andover reported 7.79″ of rain!
