Amid reports of a fourth planet-wide mass bleaching event of the world’s coral reefs, the Albanese government has released the latest tranche of its reforms to federal environment laws. Everyone agrees the current act – which covers more than 1,000 pages – is long overdue for an overhaul but it’s a long and complicated task and one where it is difficult to keep everyone happy.
