Federal ministers hold a news conference on Parliament Hill to provide an update on the forecast for the 2024 wildfire season. In his remarks, Emergency Preparedness Minister Harjit Sajjan announces that the upcoming federal budget will propose to double tax credits for firefighters and search and rescue volunteers.
Sajjan is joined by his parliamentary secretary Sherry Romanado and by his cabinet colleagues Steven Guilbeault (environment and climate change), Jonathan Wilkinson (energy and natural resources), and Patty Hajdu (Indigenous Services).
