Most of Maine should enjoy a couple of dry days to start the week, but it has been a historically wet start to the month of March.According to the National Weather Service, the Portland International Jetport recorded 6.71 inches of rain between March 1 and 17. That makes it the wettest first 17 days of the month of March on record since records started in 1871.This year breaks the previous record of 6.32 inches set in 1896.For the month, Portland is 4.53 inches above average in terms of rainfall.On March 10, Portland recorded 2.40 inches of rain, which set a new record for the date in Portland, breaking the record of 2.10 inches set in 1891.
