GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) – Greene County Commissioners proposed a resolution to rezone any solar farms, wind farms and bitcoin mining in the county.

“Greene County just finished a 14-month moratorium on solar farming,” said Mayor Kevin Morrison. “Greene County decided, ‘let’s wait until we have the full measure of information, of education, and then we’ll analyze that information with the information we were receiving from the public.’”

Morrison told News Channel 11 that currently, solar farms are zoned under A1 for agriculture, but a resolution on the agenda would change the zone to M1 for manufacturing instead.

“What the commission is deciding is, utilizing all the information to more appropriately categorize solar farming and alternative energy into better zoning than just general agriculture.”
