Indy leaders completing projects to help prevent flooding [Video]

The city has nearly doubled it’s budget from just 2017 for stormwater-related projects.

INDIANAPOLIS — Flooding and high waters may have receded in Indianapolis, but concerns over it happening again remain.

“We have around 20 storm water projects either in construction or expected to be in construction this year,” said Kyle Bloyd, spokesperson with the Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW).

The city contracts with Citizens Energy Group‘s contact center to help with residents stormwater drainage concerns.

“Our call center then routes the issues either back to Indy DPW crews for further assessment (in areas of the city where storm sewer and sanitary sewer are separate) or to Citizens crews (in areas of the city where these sewers are combined),” said Ben Easley, spokesperson for Citizens Energy Group.

One of the areas of concern was Binford Boulevard and 75th Street. That area had major flooding, shutting down the road and standing vehicles in the water.
