Climate scientists have issued a warning after global temperatures reached record highs in 2023.
The World Meteorological Organization revealed extreme weather events are off the charts.
However, they said renewable energy offers hope for the future.
In its State of the Climate report, the WMO said air temperatures reached an average of 1.45 degrees above pre-industrial levels.
The ocean was also warmer than ever in modern times, with 90 per cent affected by marine heatwaves.
