The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development has confirmed the presence of oil in the Teso sub-region. According to Minister Ruth Nankabirwa, preliminary findings from the oil exploration research that the government has been carrying out in this region have confirmed the presence of this vital resource. Nankabirwa was quick to reassure the locals that the government would compensate those in possession of land that contained oil.
