RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Water reclamation isn’t a topic many know the ins and outs of, but it is something everyone relies on to ensure our waterways stay clean. On Monday, the Rapid City Council approved the largest bid the city has ever received to upgrade the current sewage treatment facility.

Off of Southside Drive near Rapid City Regional Airport sits the region’s water reclamation center. This facility is responsible for treating all the water that leaves businesses and homes and then returning that water into Rapid Creek. As part of Rapid City Council’s agenda Monday, a bid of $172.3 million was awarded to modernize the facility.
