Scramble to find alternative gas supplies after Sasol announced end of supply [Video]

Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe says while gas deposits in Northern Mozambique are getting depleted, there are other new discoveries also in Mozambique and in Mpumalanga and that alternative plans should talk to those discoveries.
Sasol, a monopoly supplier of gas over the past 20 years, has informed users that it will not be supplying industry any longer from June 2026.
The company says if no action is taken to find solutions, this can precipitate into an economic disaster.
But Mantashe maintains that there are other alternatives.
